We define massage as a set of operations, which are based on the principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology and are applied on the soft tissues of the human body.

Massage is probably the oldest and most famous way of pain relief. Ancient nations, such as the Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Greeks have developed and applied the method of massage. The ancient Greeks combined with exercise and used herbs as a preventive and therapeutic method.

In ATHLESIS you can choose from a variety of different methods of massage, the massage that matches better to your body and your needs.

KINESIOTHERAPY

Kinesiotherapy focuses on addressing mobility issues and functional limitations of the body, which are caused by problems in the muscles, joints and nervous system. Kinesiotherapy aims at creating the proper conditions in which the challenged person can meet their functional needs as swiftly as possible.

REFLEXOLOGY

REFLEXOLOGY

There are thousands of pinhead-sized reflex areas in the hands and feet. Each of these areas relates to different organs, functions and body parts. The basic principle behind reflexology is the application of pressure on these points to stimulate the nervous system and relieve any "afflicted" body part.

THAI MASSAGE

Born in India, this is one of the oldest massage methods, which became widely known through the work of the Thai Dr. Shivago. It centers on the ten energy lines of the body (sen lines) and is applied with the thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows and feet. It is considered more potent than other forms of massage and is performed with no oil, while the recipient remains clothed. It is for those who make greater demands on their bodies, such as athletes. Thai massage coupled with other types of massage can have spectacular results, though it is known as the "lazy man's yoga" for reasons you can easily find out in just one session.

SHIATSU

Its name comes from the Japanese words "Shi" and "Atsu", meaning "fingers" and "pressure" (i.e. applying pressure using the fingers). The giver uses his/ her thumbs, fingers and elbows to exert pressure on the "meridians", through which energy flows to the rest of the body. However, the method is based on Chinese medicine too, which is one of the oldest therapeutic methods. It also directly relates to acupuncture since the same pressure points are used, the only difference being that in acupuncture these points are activated through needles.

ORIENTAL

Oriental seamlessly blends different massage techniques, thus creating a unique program that combines each method's benefits, offering the best possible physical results.

MASSAGE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

MASSAGE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

Massaging during pregnancy is intended to fully relax the pregnant woman's body and balance her emotional and mental states. It also offers drastic relief from oedema and myoskeletal pains and helps improve body posture. At the same time, it increases the intake of nutrients and oxygen by the expecting mother's body and by implication by the fetus's cells and body.

LYMPHATIC MASSAGE (VODDER METHOD)

LYMPHATIC MASSAGE (VODDER METHOD)

It is a method of manual drainage of the lymph and by extension a dynamic detox of both the skin and the whole body. Through certain movements, lymphatic massage tackles "problem" areas of the circulatory system, propelling the lymph to the draining ducts. Among the most significant benefits of lymphatic drainage we find better tissue nourishment, balancing of the nervous system and bolstering of the defence of the body's immune system.
